I began my career with a business degree in marketing from my home town Philadelphia University. Pretty quickly, I realized I was looking for something more meaningful that would have a positive impact on the lives of others. Since I was raised by many amazing women who believed in cooking foods in season from scratch, healing using natural supplements, and self care, working in the wellness industry was a natural fit.
After some extensive searching, I discovered that acupuncture and Chinese medicine was a complete healing system with a very long track record of success using natural therapies and professional standards that included state licensing and board exams. So once I learned California had the highest standard for practice, and that I would master herbal medicine as well, I packed up and moved across the country.
Shortly after beginning, I decided to attend a massage therapy program to enhance my ability to find acupuncture points, and add another therapy to my repertoire. I can now say I practiced massage therapy for a solid ten years, and even worked as a massage department manager and trainer in one of the best spas in the nation.
Upon the advice of an advisor, I also took tai chi my first quarter, and continued to attend classes several times a week for three years with the most gifted and talented teacher, Tim O'Connor. I learned the entire Yang family long form and fast set, basically everything he was teaching at the time. I even received the honor of assisting with beginning students, and leading classes. His schedule can be found here. If you are lucky enough to live in Los Angeles, do yourself a favor, attend a class and tell him I said 'Hi!"
When I finished school, I traveled to Beijing, China to complete my studies. I wanted to see first-hand where this powerful healing system was created and developed. The biggest lesson I learned in China was what a great education I received in California. I learned from many revered teachers during my time at Emperor's College, and am honored to have attended one of the best schools in the nation.
Since graduating, I have focused my continuing education on bodywork studies and treating women. I have had advanced training in facial acupuncture, thyroid conditions, fertility, pregnancy, and more. Aside from my acupuncture practice, I have also had experience as a manager and therapist at some of the top spas in the nation, where I also received skin care training which I have incorporated into my practice.
