Our core belief is to practice in the spirit of holism. That will mean different things to different people. Wellness solutions need to be individualized for each person in order to accommodate personal goals.
The solutions we offer aim to bring your body back into balance. As we move through life our needs will change, and we will address different needs as they arise. For example, a diet that may be good for losing weight may not sustain us once our bodies are balanced. A growing child has different needs than a pregnant woman.
We offer education for those who wish to make informed choices around diet and supplements. It is not enough to know which minerals and nutrients are in food and supplements, but also whether or not we are able to absorb them based on their preparation and/or our current state of health and physiology.
The concepts we use at Healthcare Harmonics are based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This is an ancient healing system based on the concept of balance and illness prevention. It is our attempt to present these concepts in a way that is easy to understand for an American audience. We also give credit to our teachers, and the deep cultural tradition that informs what we do.
We provide this information for those seeking to expand their knowledge. Below are listed several references for anyone wishing to learn more. However, we also urge caution. While seemingly simple, these concepts take years to effectively put into practice. It is not enough, for example, to understand you have spleen qi deficiency. You also need to identify what was both the cause and effect of that condition, and how it is affecting other organ systems.

Most professionals practicing Chinese Medicine have completed an acupuncture training program. In the US, acupuncture licensing requirements are regulated at the state level. Each state sets it's own requirements for licensure.
Some states require a minimum two-year education in acupuncture for licensure. Other states require a four-year program of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and other modalities such as tai chi and tui-na. There are also professionals licensed in herbal medicine only.

Different schools of acupuncture teach different systems that use alternate theories of treatment. Regardless of the system or theory utilized, all of these take advantage of the energetic anatomy of the meridian system and use specific points along those meridians to adjust the energy flow, causing relief of symptoms.
Treatments can occur at the site of discomfort, or distally. There is a logical reason why a provider will choose one point over another. Acupuncture is extremely effective, and is commonly used to treat pain, hormonal imbalances, and nervous system disorders.
Chinese herbal medicine uses a complex blend of specific substances, chosen for their direct chemical action in the body. It was developed to fight pathogens, kill microorganisms and strengthen body systems. Chinese herbs also offer pain management, dermatology uses, and can be taken symptomatically or long term to ensure good health.
