Welcome to the practice!

Hi there!

Just wanted to welcome you to Healthcare Harmonics, and thank you for stopping by. Please refer to this blog post to learn more about my beliefs and how I believe health happens.

First, the primary concept of this practice is that healthcare is highly personal. I have spent the past 20+ years learning and practicing methods of treatment that acknowledge our individuality, and that provide context for why something that worked for you, may not work for me.

Second, I believe in the logic and power of integrative medicine. As a provider with healthcare licenses from both Eastern & Western principles, I believe the best strategy is to use each when appropriate. Eastern mind-body approaches are the perfect preventive practices. They provide a framework to explain what happens in your body before disease presents. By tracking very specific symptoms, we can bring your body back into balance and prevent it from spiraling out of control toward disease. These models (like TCM and Ayurveda) are beneficial for anyone experiencing symptoms who may not have a diagnosable illness.

Of course, sometimes injury or disease is unavoidable. In that case, Western medical treatment is logical and necessary. Think insulin for Type I diabetics. Or a severe car accident leading to multiple injuries. Or diseases like cancer, where medical intervention can be used in early stages to rid the body of destructive cells. Even in these cases, Eastern practices are useful. For example, using meditation to keep your nervous system in the healing rest and digest state can improve medical treatment outcomes.

My typical functional medicine or herbal patient is someone with no diagnosed illness who knows their symptoms are telling them something is wrong. They have been to the doctor, had some tests, and everything comes back ‘normal.’ But you don’t feel normal at all. You KNOW something is wrong.

But for those with diagnosed conditions or who are taking medication, there is a lot we can do to improve your situation. Never go against medical advice. In these cases, I prefer to communicate with your healthcare providers to coordinate safe, and effective care.

I am grateful you found me, and look forward to working with you!
